The palm islands are artificial islands constructed from sand dredged from the bottom of the Persian gulf.
The project when started when started faced a lot of problems from getting the resources and making use of them as well.
The seven million tons of rock which were placed by big cranes and setting them according to a GPS coordinate was not easy because of the big waves.
It has about thousands of cubic meters of rock , limestone and sand and no concrete was used at all.
The palm Jebel Ali was the last one constructed of the two palm islands and is about 50% bigger then the palm jumeirah which was built before and therefore requiring resources in millions.
The materials used for construction were brought to site on the exact right time of need. Thus making the process very fast without any scope for error.
The process liquefaction and vibro-compaction techniques were carried out to hold the composition of the island together and also preventing soil erosion.
